A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL COACHES, PLAYERS, STAFF,VOULUNTEERS, SPONSORS AND TO ALL LIFE SKILLS CAMPERS, AS WELL AS A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO HELIX HIGH SCHOOL

Good morning LIFE SKILLS CAMP! I think that at this point, after all of the hard work that was put in yesterday, we all can agree that this camp was in fact a HUGE SUCCESS! I was absolutely so proud of how everything came together perfectly as the day progressed. I felt like I had a bird’s eye view, and the kids really received some great instruction. They were coached with so much enthusiasm which became contagious. That is what giving back is about, not doing something because you want something back in return, but its done because it is the right thing, and is in your heart to do. All of our coaches, professional and former professional players most certainly provided that to the kids without fail and for that I am so grateful, thank you coaches and players. As for our staff and volunteers, you all were fabulous!!! Even with the last minute change of venue, there was not even one hiccup throughout the day’s proceedings. Everything, all aspects of the camp were in fact thought of and that made the event flow efficiently. The camp ran smoothly on the field because of this, and I am thankful for everyone on staff and for our volunteers, undoubtedly you all made quite an impact on the success of this camp.

Now for the campers, WOW!!! What an outstanding group of young people we had in attendance! People had come from as far south as Chula Vista and Otay Mesa, to Murrietta, and Los Angeles. Every high school or Pop Warner program on hand yesterday, were thoroughly represented by their players at the Life Skills Football Camp. I commend you all on the job you did listening to instruction, working hard on every drill throughout the day, and when the Life Skills Forum came around how receptive and interactive the campers were with each speaker was incredible. They asked questions that were relevant to their lives and received answers that could help them, starting from that day forward. Those kinds of things, I feel, are what helps to make a significant impact in and on a child’s life; it almost felt tangible as I could see how the new-found information had nearly affected them right away. I was moved by the almost immediate boost of self-esteem which emerged in a large majority of our campers, as I stayed behind for a while afterwards and they all sent me off with a firm handshake, looking me in the eye, saying “thank you” and how much they appreciated me having put this camp together for them. For me, that was heartwarming beyond belief, I was thoroughly impressed in every way with our kids in camp. I send a special thank you to all of the individuals who participated, you are outstanding, and I look forward to what is soon to take place in your lives. Even a wonderfully kind parent who was so thankful shared her own tears of joy with us, thanking us for taking the time to share with her children. I was astounded by our reception, all the way around, as it far exceeded what I expected to receive.

Thank You All so very much for making this event such a success, as I believe that together, we have touched the lives of these youth Read More »

Hello to all Life Skills Campers

Good morning to all! As we quickly approach the day of camp, the excitement and anticipation surrounding this event is mounting. Many dedicated coaches, players and volunteers have devoted a tremendous amount of time to this cause, in hopes that those who attend have a wonderful camp going experience. I too am most certainly excited to participate in the camp’s activities. Although I have had surgery to repair my torn Achilles tendon, I am still dedicated to giving back to the community and seeing this camp through. I am certain that we all will have a great time and it will be a success Read More »
